Who I Am
I am Justin Currier. I trained as a Quantity Surveyor and worked my way into senior commercial and operational roles across the built environment. I am a Chartered Construction Manager, a Chartered Member of the Institute of Arbitrators and a Chartered Manager. Most of my career has been spent solving problems, leading teams and supporting people through the pressures of delivering real projects.
My background gives me a practical, grounded view of leadership. I believe good managers are built through experience, reflection and the willingness to keep learning, not theory alone.
Why I started Beyond the Bill
I created Beyond the Bill because so much of what shapes a career happens outside the technical detail. You can master the numbers or the process, but growth comes from how you deal with people, how you communicate, how you handle pressure and how you respond when things do not go to plan.
Over the years I have had mentors, supportive colleagues and some tough lessons. Each one helped me shift from focusing only on the task to understanding the bigger picture. Beyond the Bill is where I share those insights. It is a place to talk honestly about leadership, management and personal development in a way that reflects real working life.
What You Will Find Here
This space is for aspiring leaders, new managers and professionals who want clarity, confidence and direction in their careers. I write about the lessons that shaped me, the moments that made me better and the skills that matter once you step beyond the technical detail.
You will find practical guidance, reflections from real experience and ideas that can help you grow in your role. My aim is simple. If something I have learned helps someone else move forward faster or with less uncertainty, then this work is worth it.
